Zum Andenken an ihre frühere Präsidentin, die angesehene Pianistin und Klavierprofessorin Rosario Marciano, veranstalten die Vienna International Pianists seit 2009 jährlich den Internationalen Rosario-Marciano-Klavierwettbewerb.

Teilnahmeberechtigt sind Pianistinnen und Pianisten aller Nationalitäten folgender Geburtsjahrgänge: Gruppe I: 1984 und später; Gruppe II: 1996 und später; Gruppe III: 2002 und später. Eine Anmeldung in einer höheren Altersgruppe ist möglich, die Teilnahme ist jedoch auf nur eine Altersgruppe begrenzt. Erste Preisträgerinnen und Preisträger vergangener Rosario-Marciano-Wettbewerbe sind von einer erneuten Teilnahme in derselben Altersgruppe ausgeschlossen. Auswärtige Teilnehmer erhalten vom Tag vor ihrem ersten Wertungsspiel bis zu ihrem Ausscheiden zwei Stunden (Gruppen I und II) bzw. eine Stunde (Gruppe III) kostenlose Übungsmöglichkeit pro Tag. Alle Wertungsdurchgänge sind öffentlich und werden auf einem Bösendorfer-Konzertflügel gespielt.

Gleichzeitig mit der Anmeldung ist die Anmeldegebühr auf das Konto der Vienna International Pianists bei der Raiffeisen-Landesbank Wien-Niederösterreich, 1020 Wien, spesenfrei für den Empfänger einzuzahlen. IBAN: AT95 3200 0000 1202 3172, BIC: RLNWATWW. Bei gleichzeitiger Anmeldung zur VIP Academy 2014 ist eine Anmeldegebühr von € 125,- zu zahlen und gilt dort auch als Mitgliedsbeitrag. Alle Preisträgerinnen und Preisträger verpflichten sich zu einem unentgeltlichen Auftritt im Schlusskonzert am 23. August 2014. Aus Aufführungen sowie Ton- und Bildaufnahmen während des Wettbewerbs entstehen den Teilnehmenden keine Vergütungsansprüche. Jurymitglieder werten ihre gegenwärtigen oder ehemaligen Schüler(innen) nicht. Die Jury hat das Recht, Vorträge abzubrechen, Preise zu teilen oder nicht zu vergeben. Sämtliche Werke außer dem Pflichtstück sind auswendig vorzutragen. Die Repertoirevorschriften und Zeitlimits sind genau einzuhalten! Nach Anmeldeschluss sind keine Programmänderungen mehr möglich. The competition is open to pianists from all nationalities, born in the following years: Group I: 1984 and later; group II: 1996 and later; group III: 2002 and later. Registration in a higher age-group is possible, but each contestant can participate in one age-group only. First prize winners of past Rosario Marciano competitions are exempt from another participation in the same age-group. For participants from outside of Vienna, there will be two hours (groups I and II) resp. one hour (group III) of free daily practicing from the day before their first performance until their elimination. All competition rounds are open to the public and will be played on a Bösendorfer concert grand piano.

With your registration, please submit a proof of payment of the registration fee to “Vienna International Pianists”, Raiffeisen-Landesbank Wien-Niederösterreich, 1020 Wien. IBAN: AT95 3200 0000 1202 3172, BIC (SWIFT) RLNWATWW. In case of a simultaneous registration for the VIP Academy 2014 only one registration fee of € 125.- must be paid and is valid as membership fee. All payments must be made free of charge for the recipient! The registration fee is non-refundable in case of a cancellation by the participant.

All prize-winners are obliged to perform at the final concert, August 23, 2014. No claims for reimbursement for participants will arise from performances, audio or video recordings during the competition. Jury members will not evaluate their current or former students. The jury may interrupt performances, assign prizes ex-aequo or leave prizes unassigned. All performances except the compulsory piece must be from memory. Repertoire requirements and time limits must be strictly obeyed! No program changes are permitted after the registration deadline. In all cases of doubt, the German text will be applicable. ALEXANDER JENNER   Austria, president
Alexander Jenner wurde 1929 in Wien geboren und studierte nach 1945 an der damaligen Staatsakademie bei Paul Weingarten, Bruno Seidlhofer und Richard Hauser. In den Fünfziger Jahren gewann er mehrere erste und zweite Preise bei internationalen Pianistenwettbewerben. Heute blickt auf eine jahrzehntelange weltweite Konzerttätigkeit zurück. In Klavierabenden, als Solist mit sehr vielen Orchestern und Dirigenten und als Kammermusikpartner spielte er in Wien und in den wichtigsten Musikzentren ein weitgespanntes Repertoire. Seit 1970 war Alexander Jenner Professor an seiner ehemaligen Ausbildungsstätte, nunmehr "Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien". Auch nach seiner Emeritierung wirkt er häufig als Juror internationaler Wettbewerbe und als Leiter von Meisterkursen in aller Welt. Alexander Jenner war viele Jahre lang Präsident der Wiener Beethoven-Gesellschaft. Er gilt heute als Exponent der berühmten Wiener Klaviertradition. zurück
Alexander Jenner was born in Vienna in 1929. After 1945, he studied at the former Academy of Music with Paul Weingarten, Bruno Seidlhofer and Richard Hauser. In the fifties, he won several first prizes at international piano competitions. Over decades, he has been concertizing worldwide with a widespread repertoire. He performed in Vienna and in the most important musical centers as a soloist, with numerous acclaimed orchestras and conductors and as a chamber musician. Since 1970, Alexander Jenner has been professor at the institute of his former studies, now "University of Music and Performing Arts" in Vienna. Since his retirement, he is frequently acting as a jury member at international competitions and as a master-class teacher all over the world. Alexander Jenner was president of the Vienna Beethoven Society for many years. Today he is considered being the exponent of the famous Viennese tradition of piano-playing. back
GEORGE BORISOV   Russia/USA
George Borisov erhielt seine Ausbildung im Konzertfach Klavier und Kammermusikensemble am Staatlichen S. Rachmaninov-Konservatorium in Rostov am Don und am M. Glinka-Konservatorium in Novosibirsk. Schließlich erwarb er noch ein Doktorat am Gesamtrussischen Musikwissenschaftlichen Institut in Moskau. Er ist Ehrenprofessor an der staatlichen Kunstuniversität Krasnodar, wo er Unterricht in Klavier und Ensemble erteilte. Seine Konzerttätigkeit umfasst Klavierabende und Ensemblekonzerte in der Sowjetunion, Österreich, Frankreich, Norwegen und den USA. Dr. Borisov ist Juror in nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben wie dem Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb Rom (Italien), dem Chopin International Piano Competition (USA) sowie den NJMTA, NJMEA, NGPT und SMEA Klavierwettbewerben und Festivals (USA). Er ist Gründer des Internationalen Golden Key Musikfestivals (u.a. in der Carnegie Hall, New York) und des Alberti-Klavierwettbewerbs. zurück
George Borisov received his professional training in Piano Performance and Chamber Ensembles from S.Rachmaninov State Conservatory in Rostov City (B.M, M.M.), M.Glinka State Conservatory in Novosibirsk (D.M.A.), and completed his Ph.D. in Musicology in the All-Russia Institute of Musicology in Moscow (Russia). He is Professor Honoris Causa of the Krasnodar State University of Arts (Russia), where he taught piano solo and chamber ensemble courses. His performance experience includes piano solo and collaborative recitals in the Soviet Union, Austria, France, Norway, and the United States. Dr. Borisov is a jury member of International and National piano competitions, including the Rome International Piano Competition (Italy), the Chopin International Piano Competition (CT, USA), the NJMTA, NJMEA, NGPT, and SMEA piano competitions and festivals (USA). He is a founder of the Golden Key International Music Festival and the Alberti Piano Competition.. back

NAOMI ISHII   Japan 
Naomi Ishii studierte nach dem Abschluss ihrer pianistischen Hochschulausbildung in Japan von 1981-1984 an der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg bei Hans Leygraf. Danach kehrte sie in ihr Heimatland zurück und wurde dort eine der erfolgreichsten Pädagoginnen in der Ausbildung junger Klaviertalente. Ständig werden ihre Schülerinnen und Schüler mit ersten Preisen beim PTNA-Wettbewerb, dem japanischen Studentenwettbewerb, dem Japanischen Wettbewerb für klassische Musik und anderen Musikwettbewerben ausgezeichnet. Sie selbst erhält in jedem Jahr den „Teachers‘ Award“ (seit 2001 von der PTNA, der japanischen Piano Teachers‘ National Association und seit 2005 vom Japanischen Wettbewerb für Klassische Musik. 2005 und 2011 verlieh ihr die PTNA sogar den „Special Teacher’s Award“! Naomi Ishii ist neben ihrer Konzerttätigkeit Jurorin vieler verschiedener Wettbewerbe und hält Vorträge und Meisterkurse in ganz Japan. Seit 2010 organisiert sie den gesamtjapanischen Bach-Wettbewerb. zurück
Following her Japanese Music University graduate, Naomi Ishii continued her studies at the Music University Mozarteum in Salzburg with Hans Leygraf from 1981 to 84. Then she returned to her home country and became one of the most successful Japanese pedagogues in the education of young piano talents. A great number of her students continuously get first prizes at the PTNA Competition, the Japanese Students Competition, the Japanese Competition for Classical Music and many other contests. Ms. Ishii herself is annually given the „Teachers‘ Award“: since 2001 by PTNA, the Japanese Piano Teachers National Association and since 2005 by the Japanese Competition for Classical Music. In 2005 she even received the PTNA’s „Special Teacher’s Award“! Next to her concertizing, Naomi Ishii adjudicates at many different competitions and holds lectures and master-classes all over Japan. Since 2010 she is director of the all-Japanese Bach Competition. back
HEEJIN KIM  South Korea


Die Aktivitäten der koreanischen Pianistin Heejin Kim weisen eine imponierende Zahl von Konzertaufführungen, Wettbewerben und akademischen Errungenschaften auf. Ihre Karriere begann 1970 mit dem ersten Preis im Klavierwettbewerb der Zeitung Hanguk ilbo. Anknüpfend an diesen Erfolg gewann sie noch viele andere Wettbewerbe, bevor sie 1988 beim Musikfestival in Aspen (Colorado) ihr professionelles Konzertdebut gab. Heejin Kim ist mit zahlreichen Orchestern in bedeutenden Spielstätten der Welt aufgetreten, einschließlich des Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, der Prager und Krakauer Philharmoniker und wichtiger koreanischer Orchester wie Suwon Metropolitan Philharmonic und KBS Orchestra. The Korean pianist Heejin Kim boasts an impressive résumé of concert performances, competitions, and academic achievements. Her success began early, taking first prize in a piano contest hosted by the Hanguk ilbo newspaper in 1970. Following this achievement, she went on to win many other competitions before making her professional concert début in 1988 at the Aspen Music Festival. Heejin Kim has performed with a number of orchestras at major concert venues around the world, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, Prague and Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and many important Korean Orchestras like Suwon Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra and KBS Orchestra. Heejin Kim has also performed at numerous venues in Korea, as well as concert halls around the world, including the Smetana Hall in Prague, the Musashino Hall in Tokyo, and Cadogan and Wigmore Hall in London. Heejin Kim currently is professor at Sang Myung University in Seoul. back

CAROL MORGAN   Britain/Austria

Carol Morgan wurde in England geboren. Nach dem Studium am Royal College of Music in London folgte ein längerer Aufenthalt in Deutschland, wo sie unter anderem bei Alfons Kontarsky studierte. Neben dem klassisch-romantischen Repertoire ist sie seit vielen Jahren eine herausragende Interpretin zeitgenössischer Musik, sowohl solistisch als auch in den Bereichen Lied- und Kammermusik. Nach langjähriger Erfahrung in mehreren Ensembles tritt sie zunehmend mit spannenden Programmen auf, in denen sie traditionelles Repertoire mit Werken des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts kombiniert. Ihre Interpretationen sind gekennzeichnet von unbestechlicher Texttreue und treffsicherem Gespür für die Verschiedenheit der unterschiedlichen Kompositionsstile. zurück

Carol Morgan was born in England. After her studies at the Royal College of Music in London she lived in Germany for some time, where she studied, among others, with Alfons Kontarsky. Apart from the classical-romantic repertoire, she has been for many years among the leading interpreters for the music by contemporary composers, both for solo piano as also for song and chamber music. After playing for a long time in various ensembles she now concentrates on exciting programmes which combine the traditional repertoire with the music of the 20th and 21st century. Her interpretations are characterized of incorruptible text loyalty and accurate feeling for the difference of the various composition styles. back
STEPHAN MÖLLER   Germany/Austria

Stephan Möllers internationaler Ruf als Pianist gründet sich auf seinen Preis beim Internationalen Beethoven-Klavierwettbewerb Wien 1985. Seitdem führt in eine rege Konzerttätigkeit durch ganz Europa, die USA, Japan und China. Neben dem allgemeinen Repertoire sind seine besonderen Schwerpunkte die Klavierwerke der Wiener Klassik, insbesondere von Ludwig van Beethoven, sowie Transkriptionen Franz Liszts über Wagner-Opern und neue Kompositionen für den Bösendorfer-Computerflügel. Stephan Möller wurde 1955 in Hamburg geboren und absolvierte seine Ausbildung als Pianist und Dirigent am Mozarteum in Salzburg. Von 1983-89 war er künstlerischer Mitarbeiter Herbert von Karajans bei den Salzburger Festspielen. Seit 1990 lehrt Stephan Möller an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien. Er wird häufig zu Meisterkursen und Vorträgen im In- und Ausland eingeladen. 1999 gründete er in Wien die "VIP Academy", ein erfolgreiches Festival für junge Pianisten. Stephan Möller ist Präsident der Vereinigung "Vienna International Pianists". zurück

Stephan Möller first gained prominence as a prizewinner at the 1985 International Beethoven Competition in Vienna. Since then his busy concert schedule has taken him to Japan, China, North and South America as well as all over Europe. Performing all the standard repertoire, Stephan Möller has concentrated especially on the interpretation of the Viennese Classics, in particular Beethoven, as well as on Franz Liszt's paraphrases of Wagner opera scenes and new compositions for the computer-assisted Bösendorfer concert grand piano. Stephan Möller was born in Hamburg and studied piano and conducting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. From 1983 to 1989, he worked at the Salzburg Festival with Herbert von Karajan and other world-renowned conductors. Since 1990, he holds a teaching position at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He is frequently invited to hold masterclasses and lectures. 1999 he founded the "VIP Academy", a successful summer festival for young pianists in Vienna. He is president of the Vienna International Pianists Association. back
KRYSTIAN TKACZEWSKI   Poland/USA

Der “polnische Virtuose” (Koniuszko Foundation) Krystian Tkaczewski verfolgt seine glänzende Karriere sowohl in den USA als auch in Europa. Im April 2007 gab er ein triumphales Debüt in der Carnegie Hall.

Krystian Tkaczewski, geboren 1980 in Tarnów (Polen), studierte bei Olga Rusina an der Musikakademie in Wroclaw (m.a.) und bei Oxana Yablonskaya und an der University of Hartford (Diplom), wo er gegenwärtig an seinem Doktorat arbeitet.
Er ist erster Preisträger des European Piano Competition in Bari, Italien, Inter-fest Piano Competition in Bitola, Mazedonien (beide 2001), CSMTA Piano Competition in Hartford, CT, 2006 Artists International Auditions in New York, Bradshaw & Buono Piano Competition New York (alle 2006) und American Protégé Piano Competition in New York, 2009.
Seine Konzerttätigkeit erstreckt sich über vier Kontinente und umfasst Auftritte mit vielen Orchestern in Polen und USA, darunter das Orchester des Polnischen Rundfunks, die Philharmonie Wroclaw und das Hartford Symphonieorchester. Krystian Tkaczewski aktives Mitglied der polnischen Musikervereinigung SPAM (seit 2004), Gründer und künstlerischer Leiter des Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford und künstlerischer Leiter der Chopin-Gesellschaft in Connecticut. zurück

Described as “Polish Virtuoso” (by the Kosciuszko Foundation), Krystian Tkaczewski is pursuing his splendid piano career both in USA and Europe. In April 2007, he gave his triumphant Carnegie Hall debut.

Krystian Tkaczewski, born in 1980 in Tarnów, Poland, finished his master degree as a student of Olga Rusina at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw in 2004 and received a graduate diploma at the University of Hartford, in the class of Oxana Yablonskaya in 2007. Where he is presently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

Krystian has concertized on four continents, including performances with major orchestras like the Polish National Radio Orchestra, Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Krystian Tkaczewski is an active member of the Society of Polish Musical Artists SPAM since 2004. He is a founder and artistic director of the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford and Artistic Director of the Chopin Society of Connecticut. back
