VIP Academy: The 10th anniversary! An exclusive, diversified festival for intensive studies, with many concerts. A maximum of 25 participants from 17 up receive 5 individual lessons each with different professors from our internationally recognized faculty. For students from abroad, there are free practice facilities. In addition to the standard repertoire, Haydn and Mendelssohn are our focal points of interest in 2009.
Vienna, the musical capital of central Europe, offers the ideal ambiance. Participants perform at Ehrbar Hall, one of the city's most prestigious auditoriums, where Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler once appeared! Intensive workshops and lectures are also scheduled; an optional interesting cultural and culinary excursion rounds off the program. We look forward to welcoming the young artists in the surrounding of a city steeped in its long cultural and musical tradition.
As a special option in our anniversary year, we offer our students a free participation in the 1 st International Rosario Marciano Piano Competition, August 6-8. There are € 4,200.- monetary prizes and an invitation to play a recital in Vienna during the 2009/2010 season.

FLORIAN
KRUMPÖCK Austria (d,e)
Der
gefragte Pianist und Dirigent tritt an den bedeutendsten internationalen
Häusern als Solist und Dirigent auf. Er ist künstlerischer
Leiter des Blüthner Klavierwettbewerbes.
1978 geboren war Florian Krumpöck im Alter
von 14 Jahren jüngster Student von Rudolf Buchbinder und vertiefte
seine Ausbildung bei Gerhard Oppitz in München. Wichtige künstlerische
Impulse erhielt er auch von Elisabeth Leonskaja und Vladimir Fedosejew,
der Krumpöcks Debut in der Tonhalle Zürich dirigierte.
Seither konzertiert er als Pianist weltweit mit führenden Orchestern
und Dirigenten und gibt Soloabende bei internationalen Festivals,
wie den Salzburger Festspielen. CD-Einspielungen spiegeln Krumpöcks
breites Repertoire wieder. Durch seinen großen Mentor Daniel
Barenboim veranlasst, begann Krumpöck auch zu dirigieren. Sein
dirigentisches Debut gab er mit dem Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
2007 wurde er Chefdirigent der Sinfonietta Baden. Seit 2006 ist
Florian Krumpöck künstlerischer Leiter des österreichischen
Nachwuchs-Klavierwettbewerbes Wendl&Lung. zurück
This much sought after musician appears in
major concert halls both as soloist and conductor. He is artistic
director of the Blüthner Piano Competition in Austria.
Florian Krumpöck was born in Vienna in 1978.
At the age of 14 he became Rudolf Buchbinder’s youngest student
and went on to study with Gerhard Oppitz in Munich. He received
significant artistic input from Elisabeth Leonskaja and Vladimir
Fedosejew, who conducted Krumpöck‘s debut in the Tonhalle
Zurich. Since then Krumpöck has performed as a pianist with
leading orchestras and conductors, giving solo recitals at international
festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele. His broad repertoire
is reflected in his CD recordings. Encouraged by his mentor Daniel
Barenboim, he has also begun a career as a conductor. In 2007 he
became principal conductor of the Sinfonietta Baden. He recently
made his debut appearance conducting the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2006 Florian Krumpöck is the artistic diretor of the
Austrian Wendl&Lung Piano Competition for youth. back

OLGA
LÓPEZ Venezuela (e,f,s)
Diese
brillante Pianistin und Direktorin eines Konservatoriums in Caracas,
Venezuela hat bereits zahlreichen Nachwuchsmusikern den Weg zur
eigenen Karriere geebnet.
Diese bedeutende venezolanische Pianistin
erhielt ihre Ausbildung in Caracas/Venezuela und in Paris bei Magda
Tagliaferro u. a. Sie ist in praktisch allen Ländern Südamerikas
sowohl als Solistin als auch mit bedeutenden Orchestern aufgetreten.
Auch in den USA und in vielen europäischen Ländern ist
sie keine Unbekannte. Sie spielt ein außergewöhnlich
umfangreiches Repertoire, das außer den Standardwerken auch
eine große Anzahl lateinamerikanischer Kompositionen umfaßt
und wird von Publikum und Presse gleichermaßen umjubelt. Außer
ihrer künstlerischen Tätigkeit besitzt die Pädagogik
für Olga López einen hohen Stellenwert. Als Direktorin
und Professorin des nach ihr benannten Konservatoriums in Caracas
hat sie bereits zahlreichen jungen Pianisten erfolgreich den Weg

This brillant
pianist and conservatory director in Caracas, Venezuela has successfully
guided many young artists on their way to fame.
This eminent Venezuelan pianist received her musical education in
Caracas/Venezuela, and in Paris a. o. with Magda Tagliaferro. She
has performed in almost all South American countries, as well as
soloist as with famous orchestras. She is also well regarded as
a pianist in the USA and in Europe. Her extensive repertoire contain
as well standard repertoire as South American piano music. As conservatory
director, Ms. Lopez has successfully guided many young artists on
their way to fame. back

STEPHAN
MÖLLER Germany/Austria (e,g)
Stephan Möller wurde in Hamburg
geboren. Er erhielt seine Ausbildung als Pianist und Dirigent in
Hamburg, Bremen und Salzburg. Von 1983-89 arbeitete er bei den Salzburger
Festspielen mit Dirigenten wie Herbert von Karajan zusammen. 1985
war er Preisträger des Internationalen Beethoven-Klavierwettbewerbs
Wien. Seine Konzerttätigkeit führt ihn durch ganz Europa,
die USA, Japan und China. Schwerpunkte seines Repertoires sind Beethovens
32 Klaviersonaten und 5 Klavierkonzerte, Liszt-Paraphrasen über
Wagner-Opern und Kompositionen für den Bösendorfer-Computerflügel.
Unter seinen CD-Einspielungen finden sich Raritäten wie Beethovens
Große Fuge und Wagners gesamtes Klavierwerk. Stephan Möller
lehrt an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst

Stephan Möller
was born in Hamburg. He studied piano performance and orchestra
conducting in Hamburg, Bremen and Salzburg. 1983-1989, he worked
at the Salzburg Festival with Herbert von Karajan. In 1985, he was
a prize-winner at the international Beethoven Piano Competition
in Vienna, Austria. Stephan Möller is busily concertizing all
over Europe, the USA, Japan and China. Repertoire highlights are
Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas and 5 piano concertos, Liszt´s
concert paraphrases on Wagner's operas, and compositions for the
computer-assisted Bösendorfer grand piano. Among his CD recordings,
there are such rarities as Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge and Wagner’s
complete piano music. Stephan Möller is on the faculty at the
University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. back

MORGAN England (e,g)
Carol
Morgan wurde in England geboren. Nach dem Studium am Royal College
of Music in London folgte ein längerer Aufenthalt in Deutschland,
wo sie unter anderem bei Alfons Kontarsky studierte. Neben dem klassisch-romantischen
Repertoire ist sie seit vielen Jahren eine herausragende Interpretin
zeitgenössischer Musik, sowohl solistisch als auch in den Bereichen
Lied- und Kammermusik. Nach langjähriger Erfahrung in mehreren
Ensembles tritt sie zunehmend mit spannenden Programmen auf, in
denen sie traditionelles Repertoire mit Werken des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts
kombiniert. Ihre Interpretationen sind gekennzeichnet von unbestechlicher
Texttreue und treffsicherem Gespür für die Verschiedenheit
der unterschiedlichen Kompositionsstile. zurück
Carol Morgan was born in England. After her studies at the Royal
College of Music in London she lived in Germany for some time, where
she studied, among others, with Alfons Kontarsky. Apart from the
classical-romantic repertoire, she has been for many years among
the leading interpreters for the music by contemporary composers,
both for solo piano as also for song and chamber music. After playing
for a long time in various ensembles she now concentrates on exciting
programmes which combine the traditional repertoire with the music
of the 20th and 21st century. Her interpretations are characterized
of incorruptible text loyalty and accurate feeling for the difference
of the various composition styles. back

RUSSO USA/Austria (e,g)
Geboren in New York, studierte
sie u.a. am Oberlin Conservatory bei Jack Radunsky und an der Musikuniversität
Wien bei Hans Graf. Ihre intensive Konzerttätigkeit umfasst
Auftritte in Österreich, Deutschland, Finnland, Dänemark,
Spanien, Italien, Russland, Kasachstan, Japan und die USA, darunter
ihr erfolgreiches Debüt 1987 in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall.
Eugenie Russo wirkte in der CBS-Fernsehserie „Bernstein-Beethoven“
mit und veröffentlichte zahlreiche CDs mit Werken amerikanischer
Komponisten wie Gershwin und Copland, aber auch der Wiener Schule
und zeitgenössischer Musik. Sie ist Artist-in-Residence an
mehreren amerikanischen Musikhochschulen und leitet eine Klavierklasse
am Josef-Matthias-Hauer-Konservatorium in Wiener Neustadt. zurück

Der
Klaviervirtuose ist Spezialist in der Interpretation russischer
Klaviermusik. Als gefragter Pädagoge leitet er eine Klavierklasse
an der Universität der Künste in Osaka/Japan.
Der erfolgreiche Pianist wurde in Japan geboren.
Er studierte Klavier an der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende
Kunst „Mozarteum“ in Salzburg, setzte sein Studium am
Moskauer Tschaikowsky-Konservatorium fort und absolvierte außerdem
an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. Der Klaviervirtuose
ist Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe wie „Citta
di Senigallia“, „F. Busoni“ (Bozen) und „Marguerite
Long“ (Paris). Mehr als 50 Solokonzerte pro Jahr sowie zahlreiche
CD-Produktionen (u. a. Skrjabin und Mussorgsky) dokumentieren das
künstlerische Schaffen Masahi Katayamas. Neben seiner pianistischen
Tätigkeit ist Masahi Katayama auch ein gefragter Pädagoge.
Zunächst Assistent des berühmten Pianisten Andrei Gavrilov
an der Musikhochschule Hannover, leitet Masahi Katayama heute eine
Klavierklasse an der Universität der Künste in Osaka/Japan.
Außerdem wird er häufig zu Meisterkursen im In-und Ausland
eingeladen zurück
The virtuoso
pianist is an expert in Russian piano music interpretation. As a
sought-after pedagogue he is piano professor at the University of
Arts in Osaka/Japan.
This successful pianist was born in Japan. He studied
piano performance at the University of Music “Mozarteum”
in Salzburg. He continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky
Conservatory and graduated at the University of Music and Drama
in Hannover/Germany. The virtuoso pianist is prize winner of several
international competitions such as „Citta di Senigallia“,
„F. Busoni“ (Bolzano) und „Marguerite Long“
(Paris). More than 50 recitals per year as well as numerous CD productions
(f. e. Skrjabin and Mussorgsky) show his artistic activities. Besides
his pianistic career Masahi Katayama is in great demand as a pedagogue.
First he had a position as an assistant of the well known pianist
Andrei Gavrilov at the University of Music in Hannover. Currently
he is a piano professor at the University of Arts in Osaka/Japan.
He is frequently invited to hold masterclasses in Japan and abroad.

Leonne
Lewis’ vielfältige Karriere umfasst Tätigkeiten
als Konzertpianistin, Musikjournalistin und Konzertagentin. Seit
ihrem Debüt mit dem San Francisco Symphony Orchester im Alter
von 10 Jahren mit Haydns D-Dur-Konzert ist sie in zahlreichen Konzerten
als Solistin und Kammermusikerin in Kalifornien und New York aufgetreten.
Musikjournalistisch ist Leonne Lewis als beratende Herausgeberin
der Zeitschrift „Clavier“, als Autorin in „Strings“,
„Strad“ und „Wiener Zeitung“ tätig.
Sie hält Vorträge an Universitäten und bei Musikfestivals
und der Music Teachers Association of California, deren Präsidentin
sie eine Zeitlang war. Themen sind das Zeitalter der Romantik, Beethoven
und seine Welt u.a. Leonne Lewis absolvierte ihr Klavier-Konzertfachstudium
an der University of Southern California und der California State

Leonne Lewis has a varied career as a pianist,
music journalist and concert manager. Since playing the Haydn D
Major concerto with the San Francisco Symphony at age 10, she has
performed frequently as soloist and chamber musician throughout
California and New York. Leonne's accomplishments as music journalist
include Consulting Editor of Clavier magazine and contributor to
Strings, Strad and the Wiener Zeitung newspaper of Vienna, Austria.
She gives lectures at universities and music festivals and the Music
Teachers' Association of California (where she was past president)
on the romantic era, Beethoven and His World, and other musical
subjects. Leonne received her bachelor and master of arts degrees
in piano performance from the University of Southern California

SÁNCHEZ-CHIONG Venezuela/Austria (e,g,s)

erfolgreiche venezolanische Komponist führt uns auf einen Streifzug
durch die Vielfalt der musikalischen Stilrichtungen unserer Zeit.
Wer sich mit ihm auf diese Reise begibt, wird zum eigenen Erforschen
verborgener Aspekte der Musik angeregt.
Der gebürtige Venezolaner ist derzeit einer
der führenden zeitgenössischen Komponisten in Österreich.
Sánchez-Chiong studierte Komposition an der Universität
für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien bei F. Burt und M.
Jarrell. Viele seiner Kompositionen sind im Auftrag der wichtigsten
Festivals für Neue Musik entstanden und wurden von renommierten
Solisten, Ensembles und Orchestern in Europa, Asien, Amerika und
Australien aufgeführt. Als Turntable-Künstler ist er mit
zahlreichen Interpreten der internationalen Improvisationsszene,
aber auch als Solist von Ensembles und Orchestern aufgetreten. Seine
Arbeiten setzen sich in den Bereichen Theater, Klanginstallation,
Tanzperformance und Videokunst fort. Seit 1997 arbeitet Jorge Sánchez-Chiong
auch intensiv mit Kindern und Jugendlichen im Rahmen von Workshops
für Improvisation und zeitgenössische Musik. zurück

Jorge Sánchez-Chiong was born in Venezuela.
He received his musical education at the University of Music and
Performing Arts in Vienna with F. Burt and M. Jarrell. Sánchez-Chiong
is regarded as one of Austria’s leading composers. Many of
his works have been written in commission to international music
festivals and ensemles for Contemporary Music, and have been performed
by renowned soloists, ensembles and orchestras throughout Europe,
Asia, America and Australia. As a turntable artist he has performed
together with various interpreters on the international improvisation
scene, as well as a soloist with ensemble and orchestra. He also
works in the field of experimental theatre, video art, dance performance
and sound installation. Since 1997 Jorge Sánchez-Chiong has
been working intensively with young musicians în contemporary
