VIP Academy (since 1999): More than a master class! An exclusive and diversified summer festival with intense artistic work and numerous concerts. 36 young pianists will receive a maximum of instruction in 5 individual lessons, one with each professor from our international faculty, and can perform at least in one student recital. A singing course for pianists and a stage behaviour workshop is also scheduled! For participants from outside of Vienna, there are free practice-rooms!
Vienna, the capital of Central European music, offers the perfect ambiance: The participants perform at Ehrbar Hall, one of Vienna’s most prestigious concert halls, where Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler once appeared! Intensive workshops and a lecture round off the program of VIP Academy. Additionally, there is the opportunity to participate in an interesting excursion. In case of participation at both VIP Academy 2015 and the 7th Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition, there will be no extra competition registration fee.

SUNGSUK KANG South Korea/Austria

darf sich einer internationalen Karriere erfreuen, die sie quer durch Europa, nach Asien sowie nach Nord- und Südamerika geführt hat. Ihre zahlreichen Aufnahmen und Einspielungen für internationale Radio- und Fernsehstationen umfassen Klavierkonzerte von Bach, Mozart, Schumann und Rubinstein, Solowerke von Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy und Berg sowie diverse Kammermusik-Aufnahmen.
In Seoul, Südkorea geboren, hat Sung-Suk Kang schon im Alter von 5 Jahren ihren ersten Klavierunterricht erhalten und später am prestigereichen „Seoul Institute of the Arts“ studiert. Außerdem studierte sie in Singapur, in England am Royal Northern College of Music bei Derrick Wyndham und der Hochschule für Musik in Wien bei Paul Badura-Skoda. Sie besuchte Meisterklassen von berühmten Persönlichkeiten wie Vlado Perlemuter, Joseph Kalichstein und Pascal Rogé.
1990 gewann Kang in einem Wettbewerb einen von wenigen, besonders begehrten Studienplätzen am weltweit renommierten Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, wo sie mit einigen der führenden internationalen Künstler wie Luis Claret und Zoltan Szekely auftrat.

enjoys an international career that takes her across Europe, to the Far East and to both North and South America. Her many CD recordings and broadcasts for leading international radio and tv networks include concerti by Bach, Mozart, Schumann and Rubinstein, solo works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy and Berg plus various chamber music recordings.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Sung-Suk Kang received her first piano lesson at age 5 and went on to study at the prestigious Seoul Institute of the Arts. Further training in Singapore was followed by intensive studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK with Derrick Wyndham and the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna with Paul Badura-Skoda. She participated in master classes given by the likes of Vlado Perlemuter, Joseph Kalichstein and Pascal Rogé.
In 1990, among just a handful of other musicians, Kang received one of the very desireable study-places at the world-renowned Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada,. Here she performed with leading international performers, such as Luis Claret and Zoltan Szekely.

MASAHI
KATAYAMA Japan

Der
Klaviervirtuose ist Spezialist in der Interpretation russischer
Klaviermusik. Als gefragter Pädagoge leitet er eine Klavierklasse
an der Universität der Künste in Osaka/Japan.
Der erfolgreiche Pianist wurde in Japan geboren.
Er studierte Klavier an der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende
Kunst „Mozarteum“ in Salzburg, setzte sein Studium am
Moskauer Tschaikowsky-Konservatorium fort und absolvierte außerdem
an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. Der Klaviervirtuose
ist Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe wie „Citta
di Senigallia“, „F. Busoni“ (Bozen) und „Marguerite
Long“ (Paris). Mehr als 50 Solokonzerte pro Jahr sowie zahlreiche
CD-Produktionen (u. a. Skrjabin und Mussorgsky) dokumentieren das
künstlerische Schaffen Masahi Katayamas. Neben seiner pianistischen
Tätigkeit ist Masahi Katayama auch ein gefragter Pädagoge.
Zunächst Assistent des berühmten Pianisten Andrei Gavrilov
an der Musikhochschule Hannover, leitet Masahi Katayama heute eine
Klavierklasse an der Universität der Künste in Osaka/Japan.
Außerdem wird er häufig zu Meisterkursen im In-und Ausland
eingeladen zurück
The virtuoso
pianist is an expert in Russian piano music interpretation. As a
sought-after pedagogue he is piano professor at the University of
Arts in Osaka/Japan.
This successful pianist was born in Japan. He studied
piano performance at the University of Music “Mozarteum”
in Salzburg. He continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky
Conservatory and graduated at the University of Music and Drama
in Hannover/Germany. The virtuoso pianist is prize winner of several
international competitions such as „Citta di Senigallia“,
„F. Busoni“ (Bolzano) und „Marguerite Long“
(Paris). More than 50 recitals per year as well as numerous CD productions
(f. e. Skrjabin and Mussorgsky) show his artistic activities. Besides
his pianistic career Masahi Katayama is in great demand as a pedagogue.
First he had a position as an assistant of the well known pianist
Andrei Gavrilov at the University of Music in Hannover. Currently
he is a piano professor at the University of Arts in Osaka/Japan.
He is frequently invited to hold masterclasses in Japan and abroad. back

CAROL
MORGAN England (e,g)
Carol
Morgan wurde in England geboren. Nach dem Studium am Royal College
of Music in London folgte ein längerer Aufenthalt in Deutschland,
wo sie unter anderem bei Alfons Kontarsky studierte. Neben dem klassisch-romantischen
Repertoire ist sie seit vielen Jahren eine herausragende Interpretin
zeitgenössischer Musik, sowohl solistisch als auch in den Bereichen
Lied- und Kammermusik. Nach langjähriger Erfahrung in mehreren
Ensembles tritt sie zunehmend mit spannenden Programmen auf, in
denen sie traditionelles Repertoire mit Werken des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts
kombiniert. Ihre Interpretationen sind gekennzeichnet von unbestechlicher
Texttreue und treffsicherem Gespür für die Verschiedenheit
der unterschiedlichen Kompositionsstile. zurück
Carol Morgan was born in England. After her studies at the Royal
College of Music in London she lived in Germany for some time, where
she studied, among others, with Alfons Kontarsky. Apart from the
classical-romantic repertoire, she has been for many years among
the leading interpreters for the music by contemporary composers,
both for solo piano as also for song and chamber music. After playing
for a long time in various ensembles she now concentrates on exciting
programmes which combine the traditional repertoire with the music
of the 20th and 21st century. Her interpretations are characterized
of incorruptible text loyalty and accurate feeling for the difference
of the various composition styles. back

STEPHAN
MÖLLER Germany/Austria (e,g)
Stephan Möller wurde in Hamburg
geboren. Er erhielt seine Ausbildung als Pianist und Dirigent in
Hamburg, Bremen und Salzburg. Von 1983-89 arbeitete er bei den Salzburger
Festspielen mit Dirigenten wie Herbert von Karajan zusammen. 1985
war er Preisträger des Internationalen Beethoven-Klavierwettbewerbs
Wien. Seine Konzerttätigkeit führt ihn durch ganz Europa,
die USA, Japan und China. Schwerpunkte seines Repertoires sind Beethovens
32 Klaviersonaten und 5 Klavierkonzerte, Liszt-Paraphrasen über
Wagner-Opern und Kompositionen für den Bösendorfer-Computerflügel.
Unter seinen CD-Einspielungen finden sich Raritäten wie Beethovens
Große Fuge und Wagners gesamtes Klavierwerk. Stephan Möller
lehrt an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst

Stephan Möller
was born in Hamburg. He studied piano performance and orchestra
conducting in Hamburg, Bremen and Salzburg. 1983-1989, he worked
at the Salzburg Festival with Herbert von Karajan. In 1985, he was
a prize-winner at the international Beethoven Piano Competition
in Vienna, Austria. Stephan Möller is busily concertizing all
over Europe, the USA, Japan and China. Repertoire highlights are
Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas and 5 piano concertos, Liszt´s
concert paraphrases on Wagner's operas, and compositions for the
computer-assisted Bösendorfer grand piano. Among his CD recordings,
there are such rarities as Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge and Wagner’s
complete piano music. Stephan Möller is on the faculty at the
University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. back

RUSSO USA/Austria (g, e)
Geboren in New York, studierte
sie u.a. am Oberlin Conservatory bei Jack Radunsky und an der Musikuniversität
Wien bei Hans Graf. Ihre intensive Konzerttätigkeit umfasst
Auftritte in Österreich, Deutschland, Finnland, Dänemark,
Spanien, Italien, Russland, Kasachstan, Japan und die USA, darunter
ihr erfolgreiches Debüt 1987 in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall.
Eugenie Russo wirkte in der CBS-Fernsehserie „Bernstein-Beethoven“
mit und veröffentlichte zahlreiche CDs mit Werken amerikanischer
Komponisten wie Gershwin und Copland, aber auch der Wiener Schule
und zeitgenössischer Musik. Sie ist Artist-in-Residence an
mehreren amerikanischen Musikhochschulen und leitet eine Klavierklasse
am Josef-Matthias-Hauer-Konservatorium in Wiener Neustadt. zurück

GÜNTHER ZERBES Austria (g, e, f, i, s)
GÜNTHER ZERBES wurde am 21. Februar 1964 in Wien geboren. Medizin- und Gesangsstudium an der Universität Wien und der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien bei Prof. Adelheid Schmid und Prof. Rolf Sartorius. Günther Zerbes war Chorsänger im Wiener Madrigalchor und seit 1990 im Wiener Staatsopernchor. Daneben geht er einer regen Unterrichtstätigkeit im Fach Gesang sowie in mehreren Fremdsprachen nach. Er war jahrelang als Solist einer reisenden Operntruppe tätig, als Bariton im angestammten Fach sowie Ausflüge ins tiefe Bassfach. Neuerdings ist Günther Zerbes erfolgreicher Leiter mehrerer österreichischer Chöre. zurück
GÜNTHER ZERBES was born in Vienna on 21 February 1964. For years he was a soloist of a traveling opera company in his traditional role of a baritone as well as in some excursionsto the basso profundo. Since recently, Günther Zerbes is a successful chorus master conductingseveral Austrian choirs.
